Jodhpur

In jodhpur, little appears to be discarded.

Doors weather and remain in use. Shops continue in spaces occupied for generations. Objects are repaired, repurposed, and carried forward rather than replaced. Throughout the city, traces of the past remain woven into the routines of daily life.

The people in these photographs are part of that same continuity. Families gather in doorways and courtyards. Merchants work from storefronts shaped by decades of use. Skills and trades are passed from one generation to the next, even as modern India continues to change around them.

Yet change is present here as well. Some traditions endure, while others face an uncertain future. The questions of what will be inherited, and what will be left behind, quietly runs through many of these scenes.

These photographs are not a record of monuments or landmarks. They are a record of ordinary lives, lived among the layers of a city where little is wasted and much is carried forward.

Preserved with Intention. offered to time.
