#11 Tuesday’s with David - “Veiled” - Platinum

David’s Insight on “Veiled”

Walking through the streets of Jodhpur, I came across a construction crew making concrete. The hard work of carrying limestone to the kiln was being performed by a crew of women. What was striking wasn’t seeing women doing hard work but performing it in full traditional dress-bangles and all. This woman was wearing her ghoonghat headscarf as well. The face veil is worn by married Hindu women in India. She was curious to see a foreigner taking pictures and stopped for a moment. The slight smile beneath the veil and her pose exude a confidence and strength that is palpable. This is another timeless image that is perfect for the platinum process.

“And one day she discovered that she was fierce and strong, and full of fire and that not even she could hold herself back because her passion burned brighter than her fears”
