David’s Insight on “Elevate"
To capture Roy’s Peak at sunrise, we opted for a helicopter rather than a 16km round trip hike. Heavy cloud cover almost foiled the plan, but we had a small window with which to rise through the clouds. Once at the top, the cloud cover completely obscured the view of Lake Wanaka below! It created an “edge of the earth” feeling up above the clouds that left us feeling elevated from this lofty viewpoint. Being above the clouds is otherworldly. Truly a spectacular morning.
