David’s Insight on “Into the Light”
Selected as a Juror’s Choice in the Street Photography 2020 competition sponsored
by the New York Center for Photographic Art, this image captures the “feeling” of
the market streets of Casablanca, Morocco. In Muslim countries, it is commonplace
to see women walking in groups and men haggling at the storefronts. As the dust
lingers spellbound in the air, the moodiness of these narrow streets is emphasized
by the streaming beams of light. Morocco is situated on the northwest coast of Africa
and Casablanca is its principle port.
