David’s Insight on “Loom”
Marrakech is one of the best places in the world to find hand-made crafts and goods. Jemma el Fna or “the big square” serves as the central point connecting the souks, the Arabic word for market. Spreading from the massive central square, the specialty markets branch out and you will see the traditional craftsmen at work. This gentleman was weaving fine threads into beautiful, soft scarves. I was mesmerized by his serenity and the details of the loom, with all its moving parts. These time-tested trades are still practiced in Morocco and seeing them truly gives you a different perspective.
