David’s Insight on “Tenganan Village I"
As the oldest traditional village in Bali, Tenganan has remained true to their traditions. This is a typical scene of a traditional man transporting his prized rooster to the ancient town center. Towards the back of the path, a sacred swing is visible. Played once a year as part of the ceremony after the pandanus war, eight young girls sit on the swing as 2 young men swing them. The ritual is a symbol of life that continues to spin. Sometimes we are at the bottom, sometimes at the top. Ancient wisdom.
