#56 Tuesday’s with David - “City Wall Udaipur”

David’s Insight on “City Wall Udaipur”

Udaipur in Rajasthan, India is also known as the “City of Lakes”. Founded in 1558, it was the capital of the kingdom of Mewar. A city wall 6 kilometers long with seven gates was built in the 16th century to protect Udaipur from external attacks. The area within these walls is referred to as the Old City. Some of the city walls and gates remain today. The old city walls run along the banks of Lake Pichola, hosting City Palace and Lake Garden Palace, a summer pleasure resort for the Royal family. Udaipur is a magnificent city, it’s regal air draws tourists from around the world.
