#74 Tuesday’s with David - “Sfenj”

David’s Insight on Sfenj

When walking the streets in the early morning hours in Chefchaouen, Morocco, the slightly sweet scent of fried donuts wafts around corners and alleyways, beckoning you to resist the temptation of this Moroccan treat. Sfenj roughly translates to “sponge” in Arabic which describes the inside of this ring-shaped yeasted pastry. Fried to perfection to create an outer crispness, this morning ritual is not to be missed!

The colors of this beautiful city provide a fantastic backdrop for handmade goods sold on the streets.
