#1 Tuesdays with David - “Evening Reflections”

David’s Take on “Evening Reflections”

This capture is so much more than a “pretty picture”. It speaks of solitude and isolation, of detachment and beauty. It emanates a sense of peace and quiet, begging for contemplation.

This famous tree stands in Lake Wanaka on New Zealand’s South Island. I took this long exposure at dusk on a quiet winter’s evening in July. This is extraordinary given that this tree is usually surrounded by a heard of photographers, all trying to capture a moment just like this. But not on this winter’s night. The beach was quiet, and the air was cooling. The cloud cover created this gorgeous tone on tone play with the evening light. This solitary tree, in the company of its own reflection, deserves our full attention.
